Savour Beer have triumphed over the Goliaths of British retail to be crowned Supreme Drinks Champion at the Quality Food & Drink Awards for their Sparkling Beer.
Beating the likes of M&S, Tesco and The Co-operative their Sparkling Beer Brut picked up the top drink award at the event held at the Grosvenor Houses Hotel on Park Lane.
Competing against top Sparkling wines, spirits and ciders, each product was evaluated not just on taste, but also their value for money during a rigorous judging process in August. The Savour Sparkling Beer Brut received unanimous praise form the judging panel who said “there doesn’t seem to be much room for improvement as it is already sublime”.
Savour Beer founder Sandy Kirkpatrick said “It’s a rather intimidating environment to be up against such large competition but we’re delighted to have won and fly the flag for independent producers in the UK”.
Helen Lyons, awards organiser, commented, “the Quality Food & Drink Awards bring the best of the UK’s producers and key industry influencers together, and it’s great to have been given the opportunity to introduce such an outstandingly innovative product to a wider audience.”
Earlier in the night the Sparkling Beer Brut was awarded Overall Beer Winner which the judges described as a “very impressive product with great innovation”. Savour Saison was also highly commended in the Ales category.
Sandy added “it has turned out to be a fantastic night and rounds off what has been a fantastic year for the company”.
